About the Biology - Biomedical Sciences Program at 快猫成版视频

The Biology - Biomedical Sciences program prepares students for careers in the health professions and biotechnology. It is an integral part of the pre-professional program. Students who receive a bachelor's degree in Biology/Biomedical Sciences are well prepared to enter graduate or professional school, begin careers as laboratory technicians or seek employment in the biotechnology industry.

Program Overview

Students complete a wide variety of courses aimed at providing a thorough understanding of the development, structure, and organization of the cell and are exposed to a wide variety of modern approaches to analyzing genetic, molecular, and cellular events. Specialized courses in Microbial Ecology Applied Genetics, Biochemistry, and Immunology complement the offerings in Biomedical Sciences. The inclusion of lab-based investigations in these courses serves to enhance the student's exposure to state-of-the-art approaches to solving complex problems in biological systems.

Opportunities outside the Classroom

Students who choose the Biology - Biomedical Sciences program will have many opportunities for growth outside the classroom. Many research opportunities are available for students to conduct research with faculty mentors using current technology and equipment. Additionally, students are encouraged to join the Department's three student organizations, including: Beta Beta Beta (National Biological Honor Society), The Environmental Club, and Alpha Epsilon Delta (Health Professions Honor Society).

Jacqueline Jones, Ph. D.

Jacqueline Jones, Ph. D.

Dr. Jacqueline Jones-Triche is an assistant professor at 快猫成版视频 at Troy in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences. Her research areas are prostate and breast cancer and bone metastasis. Her research specifically focuses on the overlay of factors that contribute to bone remodeling, regeneration and wound healing in promoting prostate and breast cancer. She has published more than 16 peer-reviewed publications, received numerous national and international awards like a competitive national Junior Faculty award at Experimental Biology 2015 from ASIP, early investigator award at American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), Endocrine Fellows Foundation Award, the Experimental Pathologist in Graduate Training national award, UNCF/MERCK graduate fellow science fellowship, and was named as the directors most distinguished graduate student at Tuskegee University, as well as many other awards.
